Meet the team. Better Languages is family owned by husband and wife team Mike and Beatriz Hunter.

Mike & bea

Mike and Bea have owned the business since the late 1990s. They bought it as a going concern from the previous owner. The business has grown from a small UK client base back then, to a company working with leading international brands including Mothercare, Next, Debenhams, and Paul Smith.

CEO:

Mike Hunter MBA DMS BA (Econ.)

Mike joined the business in 2000. He has a senior management background in the UK and Spain. Mike has also worked as a language trainer and tutor.

He is a Director of EMITA, the East Midlands International Trade Association. He did an MBA at Nottingham Trent University, including specialisms in quality assurance, business development, and a consultancy project for the Cayman Islands Red Cross.

Interests outside of work include chess, he captains a chess team for West Bridgford Chess Club, playing in the Notts league. He is an active Christian and a member of a local Baptist church. Other interests include model railways and supporting Notts County.

Translation Services and Finance Director:

Beatriz Hunter MA, MCIL

Bea is a qualified and experienced Spanish linguist, holds an MA in Translation from Nottingham University, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. She joined the business in 1993, working initially in partnership with the previous owner, and eventually taking over the business. Although most of her work is strategic management these days, she still does some translation and occasional interpreting. Her translation specialisms include medical texts for clinical trials management systems, and label and packaging translation. When she’s not running the business, she is a member of a local church. Her other interests include cookery and gardening.
