The Phoenix Partners are a Creative Communications Agency.  They offer a wide range of creative communication services and as a result their need for language services is quite varied.  We have worked with them on a number of projects including:

• Motivation Campaigns: translation services into 11 European languages for an on-line corporate incentive scheme for a large multi-national client. The work was characterised by the need to deliver a high volume of work, to tight deadlines and in multiple languages.  We worked closely with The Phoenix Partners and the end client to ensure that the correct terminology was used and that there was a consistency of style and tone suited to the needs of the end client.  Most of the translation team were in-country translators and all had extensive experience of marketing translation.

As with a lot of translation work for use online there were also additional bits of text needed to tight deadlines as the project got near to launch. It is quite normal with website translation that there are things like additional alt text, or error messages and other pop-up text needed as the project nears completion.  Within deadline, and within budget, we delivered a high quality translation service.

• Translating subtitles: the big issue with translating either for sub-titles or for audio dubbing is the difference in length between English and most major languages.  We love working with Simplified Chinese in this respect.  It’s one of the few written languages which is a lot shorter than English, heaven for a subtitler!  With the work for The Phoenix Partners European languages were required and when translating the script, available length for the dubbing was a crucial factor.

• Interpreting: it’s quite common for us to provide interpreters in the UK, but The Phoenix Partners needed an interpreter in southern Spain.  Not only that, but the required language combination was English and Catalan.  The assignment was motorcycle racing related, and our interpreter not only had the required language combination, but is also a keen motorcycle racing fan!

The Phoenix Partners are near neighbours, (always relative when we have clients as far afield as the Seychelles and Hong Kong!) being based in Leicestershire.  We have worked with them on an interesting and diverse range of projects. Our translators like working on their projects due to the range of work and quality of source material.  They also liaise with us well when responding to technical translation queries.
