Certified Translation

Certified translation requirements can vary depending on the country where the document is required, and the purpose of the translation. When enquiring about certifying a document, it is very helpful if you can give us the fullest information possible. Languages required, purpose of the translation, and country where the document will be used.

We certify certificates, diplomas and many other official documents for use in the United Kingdom. This normally involves us in preparing the translation on our company headed paper, and then each page of the document is stamped and signed. We then send the translated document by signed for post. We charge an inclusive price for translation, preparation and postage of the document. In order to prepare a quote we will need a readable quality copy of the document or documents (not an original), our preferred way of receiving this is as a scanned copy by e-mail. Please ensure that the full document is scanned, including anything on the reverse such as notes or official stamps. If any part of the document is missing this will invalidate any translation, and is likely to result in us needing to charge extra to re-supply the document. If the document is in your native language, its easy to think that a small footnote, or piece of information is not required, but most authorities will take the view that any missing text will invalidate the translation.

If you require a document to be certified for use in another country, then it is important that you give us the fullest information possible as to the specific use of the document. We handle all major languages, but please be aware that our office staff will not necessarily have the ability to decide which language a document is written in, or indeed the document’s purpose if the original is not in English, therefore the fuller information you can provide the better. The reason for this is that formats and styles of document can vary considerably from country to country. We will also match the translator to the assignment on the basis of the required locale of the language. So for example for a document to be translated from English to Spanish, our selection of translator would be different depending upon whether the document was required for Spain, Mexico, Argentina, or any other Spanish speaking country.

In some circumstances a document may need to be notarized, and it is worth checking the exact requirements, as this will be more expensive and a longer process than if we certify the translation.
