Local company – global service

Better Languages is an award winning Nottingham Translation Services Company.

Founded in Nottingham in 1992, we are a leading Nottingham Translation Company. The business is ISO: 9001 quality assured, and has a reputation for both highly accurate and engaging translations. We work with many Nottingham businesses, and also major global brands. We translate business texts into over 60 leading languages.

Our team provides business translation services including marketing and sales literature, as well as product packaging and user guides. We also translate technical documents including product manuals, product datasheets and specifications.

Nottingham Translation Company

After over 30 years trading, we have kept strong links with the city. Nottingham clients include local solicitors Nelsons, Paul Smith and Nottingham Trent University. Other major clients include Mothercare, ELC, Debenhams, and Next.

I highly recommend the translation services provided by Mike Hunter at Better Languages. (They) have provided us with a consistent professional service. Their strong attention to detail and meeting of strict deadlines has impressed me greatly and they also provide a strong after-care service.

Our Company Directors

Mike Hunter, our CEO, studied at Nottingham Trent University, completing his BA in 1984 and MBA in 2000. Beatriz Hunter, our Operations and Finance Director qualified as a translator in the city in the 1990s. She holds an MA in Translation from Nottingham University, and is also a qualified interpreter.

Active in the Nottingham Business Community

We are active members of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce. The business uses local suppliers for many of our services. These include accountancy, digital marketing, web design, and IT support, all of which are business critical.

Translation for private customers

We no longer offer a translation service for private individuals. This is because we specialise in business and commercial documents.

Nottingham Translation quotes

We do not give prices over the phone. This is because we need to check the text and any specific requirements. Are you are a company requiring a high volume of translation? If so, we can give estimates (none binding) based on sample documents. We do require some basic contact details for all quotes. This  includes name, company or organisation name, a contact phone number, e-mail and postal address. Your address should be your trading address, or registered office if you are online only.

We are happy to discuss your translation requirements, and of course this is without obligation. We don’t use call centres. As a result of this, you will be able to speak directly to one of our team. Translations vary considerably, in fact from a few words into a single language, to complex multiple language projects. In general the simpler the project, then the faster we can both quote, and subsequently complete the work. Some complex quotes take longer, for example websites take time for us to estimate the content. We may also need to discuss any specific requirements with you, in order to better understand your needs.

Contact Better Languages for all your Nottingham translation requirements. We normally respond to email enquiries within 1 business day. Alternatively, you can call us between 9am – 5pm from Monday to Friday on 0115 9788980.

Serving local business

We are proud of our association with the city of Nottingham. We serve local businesses as well as major clients in other parts of the UK, and internationally. The business was founded in Nottingham in 1982, you can read more about our history here.

Nottingham is a fantastic base

“Nottingham is a fantastic base for our translation agency”, says Mike Hunter, CEO. “We value our links with the city, and have a large local client base. Nottingham is a great city.”

Supporting Notts County

In addition to the company starting here, Mike supports a local football team. He has supported Notts County since 1985.

“We’ve had our ups and downs over the years,” Mike says “but they are always entertaining to watch. I studied at Nottingham Trent University at both undergraduate and post-graduate level.”

The company recently sponsored an award for Nottingham Trent students for outstanding achievement in a foreign language.

UK and International Customers

Better Languages is still mainly a UK translation agency, but is starting to win business in overseas markets. We currently have regular customers in both the US and China. Our plan is to win new business in mainland Europe and the Far East.

“Translation is a global business these days” says Mike. “However, we still want to be the largest Nottingham Translation Agency.”

The business is keen to work with new local clients. We have recently launched a legal translation page, and have several more pages in preparation. We want to provide better and more specific information to our current potential customers.
